I am primarily an encaustic painter, but I also work in acrylic during hot South Florida summer months.  I grew up on the Gulf Coast of Alabama and studied Fine Art at Auburn University.
The color and light of the Florida landscape inspire me, and I'm surrounded by all the colorful objects and projects my kids have around.  In my work I try to convey both meditative calmness and a sense of pleasure.  Playfulness and a sense of place are also important elements in my work. Artists that inspire me include Lois Dodd, Agnes Martin, Neil Welliver, Emilio Sanchez, Beatrice Milhazes, Kawase Hasui, Rex Ray, and David Hockney.
